Meet the Hostess
Welcome! I’m Heidi. By day, my world revolves around homeschooling, working toward my education degree, and diving into sewing projects, with the occasional subbing shift at the charter school thrown in. By night and straight through the weekend, you can find me reading widely across fiction—from romantasy and classics to suspense and a bit of horror.
I’m also deep in the endless, beautiful struggle of constant cleaning, wrestling with home repairs as the ultimate DIY gal, and attempting to juggle it all (admittedly, sometimes poorly). This website is my digital retreat—a perfect mix of the Gilmore couch, a ‘my own little corner’ haven, and a dash of Practical Magic thrown in for good luck. It’s a space to look back at the stories, bakes, and projects keeping me company. I’m so glad you stumbled across it. Welcome to What the Heidi.

🍂 The Seasons Sensory Mood Scale
🎃 “Autumn Equinox / Spooky Season” – The ultimate score. It’s crisp air, oversized sweaters, a crackling fire, and total immersion. You are entirely captivated, your phone is on silent, and you are drinking in every single word or frame. Perfect for your favorite romantasy or a gripping series.
❄️ “Deep Winter / Weighted Blanket” – Pure, heavy comfort. The kind of story that feels like hot soup on a freezing day, a pair of thick wool socks, and being completely bundled up. It’s slow-paced but deeply nurturing, cozy, and grounding. Great for comforting classics.
🌱 “Spring Thaw / Barefoot in the Grass” – Refreshing, light, and full of new energy. It feels like throwing open the windows after a long winter, slipping into a breezy cotton dress, and feeling the first warm sun on your skin. It’s a story that makes you feel hopeful, lighthearted, and re-energized.
🏖️ “High Summer / Sunscreen & Flip Flops” – Pure, unadulterated entertainment. It’s a beach day, a giant iced drink, and zero complex thoughts. Fast-paced, fun, maybe a little cheesy, but utterly addictive. You devour it in a single weekend. Perfect for a quick popcorn thriller or a fun shark movie.
⛈️ “Seasonal Depression / Stuck in a Downpour” – The negative rating. It feels like getting caught in a freezing rainstorm with wet shoes and a broken umbrella. It’s gloomy, draining, and you just want to go home. A total DNF (Did Not Finish) or a story that left you completely cold.
