Zodiac Academy 2026

This series tried to break me.  One of my book buddies suggested reading the series in 2025, and had I not gotten pneumonia, I swear I would have finished!  Well, maybe…  Here’s the Heidi-honest-truth.

If I hadn’t started with the Ruthless Boys prequel, I would have DNR’d this series with book 1.  Don’t get me wrong, if you are looking for a decent storyline and some spicey, teenagey-drama, then mount up!  Here’s the thing, I’m coming up on 50-50-years-old (IYKYK) and there are only so many “high school-ish” books I can read.  Now, for all you diehards, yes, I know, they aren’t really in high school.  It’s sort of like college?  But these characters are still bebes in the grand scheme of things, so I don’t know what to tell you.  There were some fun moments, but all-in-all, this story could have been told in 3 books.  There was so much weird “fluff and filler” and then they basically introduced an entirely new character at the end (book 9) who is essentially influential to the entire story playing out.  I’ve been told the audio books are really great, however I wasn’t a big fan.  And also (you will hear me say this a LOT) the voices in my head are pretty fantastic.  

Here’s the thing, would I read these again?  That’s a nope.  Will I read the follow-up series?  Maybe.  I do like the characters that cross over in that series, and I feel like there will be a better connection with the prequel series, and those Ruthless Boys, they are pretty amazeballs.  I mostly read the series in “timeline order” once I had already finished Ruthless Boys, and I think that is the only way to read the series.  If I remember correctly there are a few spoilers from RB moving into ZA but not enough (IMO) to really influence how I read the series.
