Outside my window…
Dark and cold and almost raining! We have not gotten anywhere near enough rain! Supposed to get a bit of it this week and I couldn’t be happier!
I am thankful…
For an amazing nephew! I miss my brother terribly, but when I see my nephew it’s getting that little glimpse of my brother and it makes me smile.
I am thinking about…
My brother. A lot. I miss him. Especially when we just celebrated her second birthday and he couldn’t be here. And I know this won’t be the first or last birthday he misses.

From the kitchen…
Well, for our small family get-together I made pulled pork, macaroni and cheese (not from a box!) Cesar salad, strawberry ice cream (with my ice cream maker) and I even made a chocolate cake with cream cheese frosting (both from scratch)! Too bad the cake ended up on the floor before anyone got here. Thankfully we live a block away from grocery store and were able to pick up a replacement.

I’m still creating that Belle costume for Big Sister. You’d think I’d know better than to pick the costume with the most gathers! It’s taking a bit longer than I intended, especially since I decided to alter the pattern to enclose the seams. Why don’t they think of that when they are creating the pattern? Why would I want itchy unfinished seams against my kids skin?

Patience and time management. If you would have told me I would need to work on patience ever, I would have told you I’ve got plenty! Little did I know that while I can be patient with some things, I have very little for others. But we’re getting there!

To take Big Sister out for her actual birthday tomorrow! We may have only done a small family party this weekend but it’s important for me to celebrate her actual birthday in a little way. We’re going to dinner (just us four) and then gonna take her out to get a little present, maybe a Disney Princess doll!

We got a lot of cleaning done last week and still have quite a bit to do from the weekend. My sewing room needs a lot of attention and I’m hoping this week I will get to tackle that!

How excited Big Sister gets when she gets to spend time with her cousin (my nephew) and for how wonderful my nephew is! He is so great with the little kids and he always gets excited when I show him the sewing projects I have been working on! He’s my greatest cheerleader!
A few plans for the rest of the week…

Random thought…
Maybe not so random but I have been doing a lot of thinking about my brother. I just miss him. There is a Facebook group that posts pictures of his training each week. Every week I scour the pages and pictures looking for a glimpse of my brother. Even if I see someone that might be him it gives me hope and breaks my heart at the same time! I see what he is doing each week and I couldn’t be more proud of what he is doing. I hope someday we will be able to live near each other again but at least to be able to talk to him once a week would be nice or to chat via email.
