Ok, so I would LOVE to tell you all that there is some very important reason that I have been MIA… Truth is, I’ve just been tired and not super motivated… What in the world have I been doing these last two months? Well…
I checked my last post from 6/5 and have been thinking about what I have done.
I did make a blanket and attend a baby shower. There was a second baby shower I was planning to attend but things around the house got a little jumbled and I had to send word that I would not be able to make it. Very disappointed about that one but looking forward to meeting little baby Hank!
In July I turned (gasp) 34 and we had fondue at home. When we were little, my brother and I tended to have big birthday celebrations together since our birthdays are about two weeks apart, but we always got to pick what we wanted for dinner ON our birthday! I remember choosing fondue on more than one occasion… Mom and I made cheese fondue with sour dough bread, chicken and beef fondue for the chicken and steak, and a yummy chocolate fondue with local farm fresh strawberries, pound cake, chocolate birthday cake and bananas! Later we decided that any future fondue nights we will skip directly to the chocolate!
The first weekend in August we were able to enjoy the wedding of my cousin Caleb and his beautiful wife Megan. Yes, I helped with this wedding too, but not as much as I wish I could have done! I did some embroidery for the bridesmaids gifts, steamed the gowns for the wedding, and made the wedding cake. Yup, I made a wedding cake! My first!!! Well, my first from start to finish AND with fondant! And all I could think about was my own wedding cake, made by my Nana. She would have gushed about how nice my cake looked, even though I thought it was just a bit crooked in places, and at the last minute noticed the top tier wasn’t “quite” centered. I was not as close to my Nana as some of my cousins, but I did wish she could have been there, helping with the cake, boasting about her grand kids. I wish any of my grandparents could have been there. I know they were there in spirit though, and sometimes that just has to be good enough.
Hmmm, what else have I been doing… Stuff… Just stuff in general, no junk though… Oh! And I’ve been growing a baby… Yup, that’s right, a little unexpected, but Samie will be a big sister around the middle of January next year. I don’t get “traditional” pregnancy pains. No morning sickness, just a bit more tired than usual. Oh, and I have anger issues. Well, I have anger issues no matter what, but they seem to rise to a whole new level during pregnancy.
All that and trying to keep up with Sam. She’s quite the adventurer, running around on her tiptoes, already twirling around the living room, singing “Caliou” and “reading” her books. Of course, she really can’t read, but she does like to look at the pictures and points at the words. Plus, she knows to hold the book right side up!
Sorry, no photos of the wedding cake… Somehow I missed that part, but here are some other photos:
